Welcome to start a journey!

In the rapidly changing world of business education and an intensifying sustainability crisis, futures thinking competencies are more important than ever. Educators need to prepare students for challenges that extend beyond conventional lines. As educators of future business leaders, you have the unique opportunity to guide students into the unknown, equipped not only with foundational knowledge but also with the agility and insight to navigate complexity and uncertainty heightened by environmental and social concerns. Integrating futures thinking into business curricula enables students to learn to think critically, challenge the status quo and the underlying assumptions, and explore alternative futures. This training will give you a first glimpse into the world of sustainable futures thinking and how to make use of it in your educational work!

What does this training entail?

This training walks us through futures thinking as a critical sustainability competence that business school graduates need in their future careers. We dive into the world of multiple futures and learn to identify and question those assumptions that influence the ways we think about the futures. Amidst our sustainability crisis we are particularly keen on tools that can help us envision pathways to sustainable futures. We include a critical view especially in regard to unequal power relations.

The training includes several hands-on exercises and examples of learning activities that will enable educators to reflect on how to integrate futures thinking in their classes. Educators will also design their own learning activities and share them to their peers.

The training is being developed within the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) network.
