In this session, we present two examples of learning activities around imagining preferred futures.
Both learning activities are developed and presented by Senior Lecturer Elaine Conway, Loughborough University.
Futures of Hope
The first video below guides a learning activity that combines imagining and backcasting sustainable futures. It helps students recognize their individual and collective agency in shaping the future, critically examine their current images of the future, articulate a shared positive vision of a preferred future, and identify practical actions that bridge the present to that future.
Future-proofing business through Megatrends
The presentation discusses the importance of future-proofing business sustainability through an understanding of global megatrends. The session aims to help students and professionals identify key trends that are reshaping the business landscape. Participants are encouraged to apply futures thinking to their respective disciplines, exploring the sustainability challenges and opportunities presented by these megatrends.
